See what the press, bestselling authors, and industry leaders are saying about Ditch. Dare. Do!
Awesome, simple, doable
This book presents personal branding in a way that is easy to grasp and easy to implement. Not that it is easy because it can be rather complex and hard to look at where you are at and what it take to get there.
While I read this book I got the feeling “I CAN DO THIS!” (for me and for my clients)
I love the examples from William and Deb’s careers and clients, which really add depth to their message.
The must have guide for better Career Management
While not a new message, Ditch,Dare,Do from William Arruda and Deb Dib provides a easy to understand guide to support everyone in their quest for a more successful and rewarding career. This is the book to support you in moving from ‘Knowing to Doing’ which is a great achievement.
Simple tips abound throughout the 66 chapters and this is the book you are happy to highlight and scribble all over as you plot your Personal Brand for the future.
Give it to yourself, your children and to your staff for all will benefit.
“So what? Make me care! Do it fast!”
William and Deb have synthesized decades of experience and get their message across in bite-sized, actionable tips that can actually be squeezed into my already jam-packed schedule as a busy executive. The surprise is that, instead of just another to-do list, I’ve come out on the other side feeling more energized and more strategic about my own essence, messaging, and value. And, I love how they tie what can feel very esoteric and intangible–your personal brand–to a tangible ROI . . . which always spells greater success for your career and life.
Short but very sweet!
Ditch, Dare, Do is not like any other book about personal branding. Not a word is wasted; each chapter is short in length but rich with inspiration to act. The book breaks personal branding into 66 discreet ideas – each has value alone – together they are a roadmap to a career filled with success and happiness. Great book for a book club where colleagues can help each other, share their progress and challenges and the whole team moves forward. Fabulous work Deb and William.
One of the most practical and digestible personal branding books out there!
William Arruda and Deb Dib have produced one of the most practical and digestible personal branding books I have read to date. Once you start reading this book you simply cannot help yourself to continue onward. The quick quizzes, places to record your actions and learnings, and incredibly useful real-world examples helps anyone to get a grasp on how to manage one’s personal brand.
As a personal branding coach in Japan I need a book that is easy to read even for non-native English speakers. Ditch.Dare.Do! is ideal because the 66 digestible ‘snaps’ are quick reads written in clear and concise language. And each “ditch,” “dare,” or “do” gives the reader something that is immediately actionable in their personal branding process. Two thumbs up and 5-stars!
Every career-minded professional should read this
William Arruda and Deb Dib have done the world a great favor by writing this book. More and more executives are realizing the necessity for having a brand to help power their careers. But, it’s not always obvious how to go about getting a unique, authentic personal and career brand – and then, once an executive knows it, what to do with it! But this book explains it all. It even has areas to write down ideas that each section sparks in you.
This book walks you through the steps to getting, expressing, and promoting your personal brand in a straightforward, user-friendly way. When you’re done reading the book and doing the exercises, you will be equipped to transition better and faster and to make tens of thousands of dollars more in compensation – all because you now know who you are and what you uniquely bring to the table. I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
Manage your brand and your career — great advice for careerists and entrepreneurs!
Creative, practical and fun! These are three words that describe Ditch. Dare. Do! — the latest book by William Arruda and Deb Dib.
Why do I like this book?
First, the book is well organized into a series of key, focused chapters. The text is high energy and high impact and can be read quickly and easily. As the authors mention, it’s a “bold and brief real-world instruction manual for continuously managing your career and achieving unstoppable momentum.”
Second, it includes quizzes and questions and even special areas where you can make notes to follow up on your own brand adventure. I enjoy books that involve the reader with the material. I also like the many examples and stories throughout which drive home key points about one’s brand and brand impact.
Finally, while this book is written with the executive in mind, I find it useful for anyone — from college graduates to entrepreneurs! Everyone can apply this timeless information to their own situation and develop a stronger and more compelling brand as a result.
If you’re a busy entrepreneur like me, you’ll enjoy this short but important and informative book. I highly recommend Ditch. Dare. Do! and will definitely recommend it to my clients!
Personal brand gurus William Arruda and Deb Dib have combined great information on this timely topic with a contemporary format. It is simply a must read for anyone wanting to learn how to create greater success by standing out from the crowd with your authentic, strong Personal Brand. I am sharing this with all my clients and they love it.
A must-read for executives who want to make a difference using less than 10 minutes each day
William and Deb did an amazing job distilling brand development down to quick efficient actionable steps. They changed the game by demonstrating how much brand we can build and success we can achieve with just 9-minute actions each day. No more excuse to not giving our brand the care it deserves!
The book is very easy to read. Thanks to the way it is structured in small chapters. I really appreciated that I could easily stay fully focused going through each chapter end-to-end.
Chapter 9 – Be Opportunistically Lazy – is my favorite. In a very elegant way, William and Deb showed different creative ways to leverage our real world into our virtual world and the other way around to do big things with very little work, such as writing a book. This chapter is a real demonstration of how powerful content repurposing is in building our brands.
William and Deb deserve more than 5 stars for this personal branding masterpiece.
Navy Seal Training for Personal Branding Strategists
William and Deb crushed it! As a personal branding strategist, I can’t figure out if this book puts me out of a job or secures an abundance of clients indefinitely. This playbook makes career development embarrassingly easy. With drill sergeant precision and directness, William and Deb lay out exactly what you need to know to develop and enhance your personal brand. Fellow strategists, it’s time to go back to basic training – learn it, know it, coach it.
A Personal Branding Stand-out!
In the overly crowded field of Personal Branding, William Arruda once again stands out brilliantly. Together with savvy co-author, Deb Dib, he’s crafted the perfect guide for busy professionals who don’t have time to read, want actionable advice, and seek a sure path to professional success.
A great and very much needed book
Ditch! Dare! Do! is one of those exceptional, rare books that go beyond merely suggesting ways to improve your career. It reaches out to you right from the first page. And when it does, the path it suggests transforms into a plan you’d want to follow.
It engages you by laying out the mindset so many of us have about managing our career in a very digital connected world. At first, you find yourself agreeing, not just to the description of where you might be now, but–perhaps for the first time–understanding the limitations of the work world we so easily slip into.
Ditch! Dare! Do! then sets the stage for a logical, step-by-step plan to get you where you want to be: recognized and rewarded for the value you bring to the workplace, without scrambling to find a job or land the promotion.
Along the way, it destroys some pernicious myths that embarrass those who think getting ahead means bragging or “spinning” some picture of yourself you hope others will find attractive.
As you read, you’ll know the reason behind each step, where it fits into the sequence of your success, what you should do to take the step, and…usually lacking in other books…how you will know when you’ve done each part very well.
William Arruda and Deb Dib have mastered a very difficult challenge: give professionals and job seekers at executive levels (indeed, any level), confidence they can leverage a kind of change most of us know little about.
As a coach with 20 years in executive career coaching practice, I’ve known both authors personally. I’ve seen their work. And I can defend my own brand very confidently when I recommend their work to you.
An Action Plan to Take Your Career to The Next Level
This is a book for everyone to read, not just executives or those aspiring to be. In fact you may find this book especially helpful if you’re not an executive. What I find especially great about Ditch, Dare, Do? To me one of its strengths is that the chapters can be read in any order and still make sense. If you’re a busy person and feel confident you’re doing well in some areas, you can move right to where you feel you need some additional insight. Still, don’t ignore those other chapters, you’ll likely find some helpful insight there too. Secondly, the book has easy-to-complete exercises to help you hone in on the topic you are working on. There’s even space to write in the book (gasp!) if you’d like to do that.
Of course, the best nuggets from this book are related to the title “Ditch, Dare, Do”. The book is filled with challenges to “Ditch” some of your behaviors, “Dare” you to start “Doing” new behaviors. The best way for you to accelerate your career growth is to take make small steps every day. “Ditch, Dare, Do” will help you identify those small changes you can make every day that will grow and compound your career growth.
Ditch. Dare. Do! is an executive’s trusted handbook for achieving professional and personal success! Having a strong personal brand is good for you – and good for your company.
Ditch. Dare. Do! will transform how you see yourself – and how others see you – in your professional and personal life. As respected author Richard Bolles said in the forward to Ditch. Dare. Do!, personal branding is “the concern of the snowflake and of your fingerprints.” No two snowflakes or fingerprints are the same… nor are we, as individuals, the same as anyone else… and this uniqueness which resides in each of us, is our personal brand.
Useful handbook to develop an effective reputation on the Web
Ditch. Dare. Do! is a handbook with innovative strategies of personal branding, which I recommend to anyone interested in developing an effective reputation on the Web. As a strategist in online reputation and social media, I like to be always current of the latest trends. The value of this guide is that considers social media, where we can go now to communicate what makes us different, what we do and its value to other people. The suggested strategies also consider some Web 2.0 tools and the constant distraction of multitasking.
The most I liked from the book is that the teaching is based on the real working experiences of William and Deb with their clients. These stories are useful examples that we can use to apply knowledge while we learn. Ditch. Dare. Do! is a short book, simple and easy to read. The 66 quick strategies, can be achieved in an action plan of 9 minutes a day, and force you to abandon old habits, to dare to accept new challenges and take quick action to achieve success.

Ditch. Dare. Do!
